Christmas Run-up

I've been weighed down by the thought of my Piano exam on the 7th December (which I'm currently screwed for) mainly because I don't practice my exam pieces/scales as much as I should (I blame the modern composers who compose nicer pieces that are more enjoyable to play). So anyway, I've been turning down any other plans before this exam. But I've changed my mind on that now because it's the run up to Christmas and I don't want to be a Scrooge!

Instead, I have organised to go to a couple of concerts- You me at six/Thirty Seconds to Mars with Katie and then Don Broco (+ Bad Rabbits and Lonely the Brave) with Jade and possibly some other friends too :D Also the Winter Good Food show is coming up so I'll try and organise for some friends to come along (hopefully!) They usually have free tasters so what is there to lose? I'm excited for next weekend too as I'm going to a party for my friend's 18th :D OOOHH and I'm definitely going to be seeing Catching Fire as well :D

Halloween...

So, we went on a little outing to Birmingham and came back with kiddies face paints after I discovered a free face paint stall in selfridges :D haha

I actually quite like gothic makeup. My eye liner isn't that different from my everyday style :L The black lipstick on the other hand...and as for my ghostly white colour- well, that's just the colour of my face :S

My mom and sister are currently in San Francisco and I'm here at home with my dad and brother. So that makes me head chef for the holidays. I don't mind them going away and they have promised to bring back decent presents so it's all good, but they'll be away for Halloween tomorrow and it won't be a very special day without them. Saying that, i've organised to go to Jamies Italian tomorrow with my friendywendies (oh dear, jenny) which should be cute, seen as these little days out are becoming few and far between!

I have a work placement!

I now have a work placement at a Dental Practice! I go once or twice a week in my free time slot on weekdays. It's quite handy because I can walk to the practice from school in under 20 minutes and it's a pleasant, non-creepy walk too. At the moment I've been shadowing and I feel like I'm learning so much. Definitely an environment that I feel comfortable in! I also love the independence of making my own way to work and back again. However, I am yet to experience a trek in the rain..or the snow for that matter, maybe my opinion on walking will change with the season.

Sixth Form Update: I swapped my Physics A level to Psychology. This decision was purely down to the fact that Physics doesn't interest me. Of course, there are some aspects that I love...the stars, the universe but I didn't enjoy the lessons and it has always been my least favourite science to study. My work load has increased quite dramatically and I'm starting to feel the pressure (no thanks to my up-coming music exam). I've noticed that the focus on 'popularity' has fizzled out, especially in the classes where there are lots of newbies. I prefer it.

Music-wise: I'm trying to be a bit more strict with myself when it comes to scales practice. So this week I have been taking my scales book to school and practising before my first lesson starts. Apart from band, I've hardly had any chance to play my clarinet and i'm, therefore, in the process of brushing the cobwebs of some of my grade 7 and 8 pieces for my AS recording. It also means that my fingers are going to have to get used to the awkwardly-difficult positions and movements in these pieces again, which I spent ages mastering a few years back.

Holy Guacamole. How is it already 11.09pm at night?!
